| | Dad, with the close supervision of his cat, watches Brodie open birthday gifts. |
| On the 6th, Brodie became a teenager!  I couldn't be there in
person so Mom kindly shared photos of the fun celebration.
| | |
| My niece Kaitlyn posted a fun
Instagram of her horses & mules being fed while they winter on our land. I stole this screenshot from it. | This is a trick Buddy has taught us.  When he moves into this position,
we are to stop what we're doing, say, "Ohhhh", and drop to the floor to give belly rubs. |
| | |
| Buddy was just sure that Rocket wanted to steal his precious piece of deer
hide, so he's trying to find a hiding place for it. | Eric tried to teach Buddy to be afraid of the ice by cracking it and having
him fall through. It didn't work out very well. Buddy only got a little wet and not scared at all. |
| | Buddy, trying to sneak away to the neighbors' house in order to pee-mark all the important areas. |
| Eric, being the scale in this photo of the new pipe GLID installed at the Costich Lake dam this winter. | |
| | Sometimes, the view into Canada from our driveway becomes so clear that I have to stop the car and take pictures. It's so lovely. |
|   | |
| Eric was burning brush near our house one day, so we made an evening of sitting around the nice fire. | |
| | |
| Rocket NEVER lays on my lap, not ever! This was precious.  Buddy was
growling non-stop so I put my hand up for a barrier so that I could enjoy this rare moment of love from my old cat.
| | |
| One morning we woke up to find there was a crack in the ice, with ducks already enjoying it. | By afternoon the crack was this
wide.  By the next morning, the
ice was mostly gone.  Hurray!! It's very life-threatening for Buddy when it's in the in-between stage. |
| Lily is a snuggler, she really, really wants to lay close to the other
pets but they won't have it.
| Buddy surveys the winter scene from the comfort of his Lay-Z-Boy, cushioned with a blanket, of course - because upholstery is not soft enough. | |
| | Eric took a trip to Florida, which included him having to get up at
2:15am to drive to the airport However, our local amazing photographer, Keith Taylor, captured it beautifully. |
| Here he forced me to take a sewing break because he was dying for attention. | |
| He also managed to capture Northern Lights on the same night.  I
never knew there were so many beautiful sights in the Tobacco Valley
| I'm not sure why Eric felt he needed to go to Florida.   | |
| | |
| Eric spent two days exploring Key Largo alone, then he was joined by two of
his rabble-rousing brothers for the rest of the trip. Here Jeb, Larry, and Eric are together at last and ready for fun. | Eric, maybe wondering if he enjoyed the pre-brother time of the trip better. Jokes!! |
| | |
| Jeb, enjoying himself... | Eric, thinking it could be warmer. He's a little bit hard to please. |
| | |
| The guys had many adventures, including a little hike. | Beach walks |
| | |
| They sighted this manatee in the wild while touring an old decommissioned
boat. | They enjoyed lots of great meals, including the highlight where they ate
their own weight in seafood at "The Stoned Crab". |
| | |
| Since they were in the Florida Keys, they had to have Key Lime Pie | Jeb & Eric, with Eric's version of a smile (because the food hadn't arrived yet!) |
| | |
| They spent some time on Key West, where the sunsets are amazing. | |
| | |
| | |
| The final evening was spent in Miami. | There they enjoyed a Miami Heat basketball game. |
|
| |
| Meanwhile, back at home, Buddy keeps an eye on me. | |
| We got him this training collar to make him behave better, but it
wasn't able to keep him from rolling in goose poop!
| | |
| He got a nice, thick slab of it on this side. He was SO happy. | He's feeling a little less joyful now, post-bath. |
| After Eric got back, we went to a concert in town with Jeb & Amy. The Mari Black ensemble. | |
| And, again with the goose poop. We go through this every spring. | |
| Our friend Jessica had her 40th birthday at the beautiful Timbers Lodge. It was a fun party! | |
| The dress code was "90's Country." The Eash family made it look beautiful. | |
| | Eric had a giant brush pile to burn, so Buddy and I came out to watch him get it started. |
| Colin, however, tends to take things to their limit! | |
|
| |
| | |
| It's going now! | |
|   "I make fire!"
| |
| Trail cam photos of the horses and mules | |
| These guys are giants. They are so pretty to watch. | |
| | |
| We just happened to be out for a walk one day when Strite was moving
them.  He has a bucket of grain in the back of that UTV. | It caused quite the stampede of grain-hungry mules & horses! |
| | |
| It got a little rowdy in the back, as mules tried to improve their proximity to the grain. | Think of this as a panoramic shot, it's a continuation of the previous picture. |
| | |
| And then there's the old ones, bringing up the rear. "Hope there's some grain left when we get there." | |
| | |
| | I'm calling it "Moonlight Flight." I spent forever on the quilting of this quilt. |
| This is a quilt I was particularly proud of. It was difficult and time-consuming, but beautiful. | |
| | |
| This one is adorable in person.  The fabrics all have this shiny
metallic sheen that makes it so cute. I call it "Buttercream Birthday."
