Desirae & Brodie Visit
July 18th - 25th, 2025

I was so excited when my sister told me that she was going to bring Brodie up for another visit this year.  As usual, we kidnapped Carter for the whole week so the boys could fish to their heart's content.  We had a lovely time together!

We got food, headed to pick up Carter, and they were out fishing within a few minutes of arriving home.

They arrive, Brodie can finally relax now that his fishing pole case came
safely out of baggage claim.

The next night Eric watched the boys so that Desirae and I could go to Abayance Bay for
Cashed Out - a Johnny Cash tribute band.
There was a haze that blocked the mountain views and a little rain, but we still had a lovely evening.

On the rare times they were indoors, the boys gave the Klask board a workout,
as well as the string hook game.

After church on Sunday we headed up to the Ten Lakes Area.  We didn't
get far before spotting lots of fat huckleberries and wild raspberries - so good!

Carter has the Casazza trait for always being caught pointing in pictures!  There's one Brodie,
pick that one!

Buddy didn't understand what we were doing, but he was up for the adventure.

Wherever there's shallow water and our dog in the same place, there must be pebble throwing.

Now we found access to Graves Creek for some fishing.  Beautiful
Desirae poses beside the beautiful creek.

Deep discussions about fishing strategy and about not getting killed.  Eric giving some pointers and worrying about Brodie falling in.

Artistic shot of a beautiful spot.

Oh the majesty of our regal beast, it's breathtaking!

Next stop, Big Therriault Lake.

Keen-eyed Desirae spotted my first sighting of bear grass for the year.
I love that stuff!

We don't know what came over him, but Buddy allowed Desirae to snuggle
him for about 5 minutes.  When she tried again later, he declined.
The boys exploring the shoreline as we worked our way around the lake.

Brodie was helping Eric when Carter lost his bait and asked Brodie for help.  Bro told them they
needed to form an orderly line so he could assist them in order.  We all got a big laugh out of that.

I wanted my picture taken with this bear grass.

Desirae told me to pose with it like I meant it, so I told it how much I loved it.  Mighty fishermen, trying to catch fish at the worst time of day.  We should
have planned this trip differently, but there was rain coming so we couldn't wait.

Leaving Big Therriault Lake. Now we're at Little Therriault Lake.  I love this picture! Wish Eric was in it with us though.

The sky was really showing off.

Eric was trying to coax Buddy out onto that log, with limited success.

The next day we took the boys to the fishing pond at the fairgrounds.  Carter's got one.  I love his cute bucket hat!

Deep in conversation about the intricacies of fishing.   Next Uncle Eric gave them the run of his climbing gym and they LOVED it.

They would lay down, claiming exhaustion, only to be climbing again in 5 minutes.  Brodie traversing the top.

They even learned to set their own routes.

Desirae treated Carter to a new fishing bag like Brodie's, so they had to spend a couple of hours
moving all his stuff over into the new bag.

It's always amazing to do one of these back-to-back pictures with him
now that he's nearly 6 foot 4 inches tall!

Klask again - on another short break from fishing and climbing

Coming in from another long climbing session.

They've spent so much time together they're starting to look alike!  :-)

They caught some huge fish at Costich!

And out for more fishing.

They weighed every catch. This one was over 4 pounds!

One of the jokes from that week was Brodie's new nickname, "trolling motor".   After a break for food, they would head back out again.

Carter smiles like a teen magazine star!

Brodie is all about the fish.

Nice one!

The fishing was a little bit tough at the Therriault lakes!

That last day, we had a little time before we had to go to the airport so we visited
Pine Grove Pond for a last round of fishing.

On our last night, we went to Kalispell to help Carter pick out a new
rod & reel.  We're trying out the chairs at Bass Pro.

It was a beautiful spot, but the fish weren't biting.

The boys, feeling sad that their time together is coming to an end.

At the airport - Brodie, Carter, and Desirae

  The fishing kings!

 Farewell family, I'll miss you!
