Sweet Pea and Buddy are very curious about one another.  Once they actually sniffed noses,
but usually one of them gets spooked before they get too close and everyone runs away.

The youngest member of the longhorn herd, Bikram.

I know these guys have a short life ahead of them - cold weather is coming!  One last look at my summer flowers before the frosts take them out.

Lisa & I enjoying the "Toast of the Town" event at Indian Springs Golf Club Larry, Lisa, and Eric chatting with some friendly folks at Toast of the Town

Friends and neighbors checking progress on the silent auction. Sometimes when we decide to go for a walk there are obstacles.

Eric calls mules, "dog stompers", so we always carry Buddy past them. They are very friendly, always getting up in your business and following you around.

Uncle Tim's birthday party at God's house.  Amy is showing the kids how to do a helium voice. Aubrey sang Happy Birthday to Uncle Timmy in her munchkin voice, it was so funny.

Everyone enjoying Aubrey's version of the birthday song.

Carter trying a balloon and Cooper enjoying the unrolling whistle thing.

The crowd who hung out in the dining room was more subdued.

Next, Rose leads the kids in a program about John the Baptist, played by Hunter.

Hunter, saying his lines.   Cooper doing a reading.

Lilly and Hanna did theirs together, with Aunt Gail nearby for support.

  Lane taking his turn.

We attended the Homecoming parade together later that week.

Me with Aunt Gail, she was visiting from South Carolina for 3 weeks.

Aubrey was one of the Homecoming Queen candidates.  Jeb & Amy are in the hot rod car.   Aubrey leading the student section in a cheer on game night.

Blurry shot of Uncle Tim and Aunt Gail. Me & Rose, we accidentally cheered for the other team when they scored. Eureka had been
shutting them out pretty bad.

The game had a lightening delay so we were all forced to exit the stadium for 30 minutes.  Here we are making the best of it.  Larry helpfully gives Aunt Gail some rabbit ears.

Aubrey has now changed into her fancy dress for the half-time ceremony. The girls are escorted onto the field by their Dads, then the princess and queen winners are announced.
Queen was Kricket, a very sweet girl who used to work at the coffee shop.  She is in the royal blue dress.

Next we spent a very fun evening at the Frontier Bar & Grill, where they had live music by
Deep Mountain.  They are a great bluegrass band and some members are friends of ours.

It was a very fun evening.

Jeb, Eric and Larry enjoying a good joke.

Next comes a day trip to Fernie, BC (Canada.)  One of our favorite locations for a fun day out.

Sweet Pea gives Eric kisses.  She barely, barely touches his beard with her nose.

We found a new walking path that has become our new favorite.  It had some gorgeous views.

And of course, a chance for some pebble throwing.  That bench was way off the ground and behind it was a big drop-off.  It would be hard to relax there!

I opted to lean against it, figuring I'd end up in the river if I tried to get up there.   Back at home, FT (far right) tries to graze our lawn by putting his head through the
wrong part of the fence.

I made this quilt for my friends Coti & Kenna.  Their wedding was later in September.  We often bring Gunner apples or carrots.  He & Eric are buddies.

He keeps following us long after the apples are gone, hoping we'll come up with more!  He's also a lover, so pets are the next best thing to apples for him.  Harmony isn't interested in pets.

Longhorns are very picturesque animals.   Sometimes on our walks, we encounter the whole pack train and there's not room for all of us.

Here, Eric leads them off our walking path and onto a different trail so that Buddy & I can continue.

Nativity - This is the first quilt I made that Eric has wanted to keep.
It's going to be part of our Christmas decorations from now on.  I'm honored!
Next is a two-day trip for Eric & I to Spokane.  We stayed at the beautiful and historic Davenport
hotel, which opened in 1914.

Looking down into the lobby bar and restaurant area from the second floor.

Here are a few glimpses of some of the elaborately gorgeous spaces.
It was beautifully restored about 20 years ago.

A close-up of the detail on the skylight ceiling.

Mirrors and decor in one of the ballrooms.

The Spokane river and Spokane Falls are right in downtown.  There are parks and walking trails all around the river.

Back at home, Buddy is happy to have us back!   Long-distance shot of Aubrey about to serve the volleyball.

Kenna & Coti's wedding day - it was great to spend time with Mike again!   The groom's party arrived in style.

Here comes the bride!  She was SO excited.

Giving the bride away

  The ceremony

Heading back to the cars for a drive into town to the reception at The Timbers Lodge.   This is an "after" picture to go with the "before" shot I shared last month.  The parking lot
project has come a long way in a month.

They dug out the hillside on the other side of the road and dumped the dirt over the bluff,
creating more parking spots in both areas.
The trees used to mark the edge of the bluff.

These are two shots of the area cleared on the other side of the road.

They did a beautiful job decorating the lodge, it looked gorgeous.   The happy couple (a professional shot I found on FB)

Aubrey was selected as the photo they included on the VB schedule this year.

They were undefeated all the way up until the very last regular season game.

Me, at my local quilt guild meeting.  I'm showing a baby quilt top I'd just finished.

Buddy looks at me thinking, "Can't you do something about her?"  She lurks!   Sweet Pea.  Can you tell I'm smitten with her?  She's so pretty, and such a lovey thing.

I was trying to take some outdoor quilt pictures and created quite the stir.
They are a curious bunch.

Desirae shared this fun picture of her & Dad out for dinner while Mom was away.

I sent this "Cherokee Fire" quilt to Oklahoma to participate in the
Cherokee National Holiday quilt show.  Mom & Desirae sent me
this picture of the quilt in the show.

Mom won ribbons on her ribbon skirt (above, 1st) and her ribbon shirt.

Highlights from our trail cam - a first, a raccoon!  We never see these guys.  A pretty woodpecker.

A very happy squirrel A pair of squirrels.  There are far fewer of them up here than in Oklahoma,
and they are also tiny in comparison to southern squirrels.

Cow elk

  Coyote with an apple

For two years in a row we've caught squirrel romance on our trail cam!

  Deer with an apple.

The ravens got most of the apples this year.  The bears never came around.  All the birds come to check out the squirrel's stash and steal things out of it.

The squirrel can't seem to figure out why his stash never grows.

  Two coyotes, getting some apples.

The clearest coyote shot I've gotten so far.

We usually get hundreds of pictures of deer - we didn't know it at the time,
but deer were soon to become scarce around here.  A wasting disease came
along late this month and wiped out about 60% of the deer.

We got over 70 pictures of this!

That mule was telling us what he thought of our trail cameras.

Finally, this other mule stepped in to give us something better to look at!
