The Caribbean
December 4-11 1999 - With the Callantines

 Back to Home Page

We took our first (and to this date, last) cruise with the Callantines late in 1999.  We started our trip with a day in Puerto Rico, then we loaded onto the boat and we were off to St. Thomas.  The following day was Antigua - easily the best part of the cruise.  On our last day we visited St. Croix

Yes, Eric was a climbing fanatic even way back then
This is him climbing the sea wall in Puerto Rico
Resting at the base of a statue

In Old San Juan On our tour of El Morro - a 400 year old Spanish fort

We were told they once shot a cannon through Sir Frances Drake's cabin   Postcard shot of the fort

Now we take a tour of the Bacardi rum factory  A view of Old San Juan and the fort from the Bacardi factory

Here's a look at the fish in the waters around St. Thomas  Eric, disturbing the wildlife

Cute little blue & yellow fish

Eric, feeding the fish (I was bitten when I tried it!)

Me & Eric on Coki beach, after snorkeling

We did a little shopping, then took a last look at St. Thomas

Here we are, all dressed up for dinner

Here's some shots of Antigua - we took a Catamaran cruise from there to Bird Island for a snorkeling trip

Friendly Snorkelers

Shots of some of the sea life we saw while snorkeling....

On the way back they bring out the rum, then it's limbo time!

Antigua

Antigua again This is St. Croix - our last island

This is Cane Bay on St. Croix - the site of great snorkeling
and one impressive argument between me & Eric!

I actually saw a
Sea Turtle, but
it was so deep
the picture didn't
turn out
Heading back to the ship, Eric & I have made up now

A last look at Frederiksted, St. Croix

Unfortunately, Eric got very, very sick on our last night.

Eric was so sick that we couldn't fly home
as planned.  We had to check into a hotel
so he could rest and fly home the next day.

Being the good wife that I am, while he slept
I caught a cab to this beach - so he could
rest, of course.  He felt much better the next day.
